** Apologies for the delayed posting today! **

Aly groaned as she peeled her eyes open.  The jungle air was thick and humid even during the night.  Aly wiped sweat from her brow, her hairline already damp, as she looked up at the starry sky.  She frowned with disappointment at the lack of cloud cover to mask the bright moon.

“I better get moving again,” she grumbled.  Aly started to jog south through the jungle, being sure to steer clear from the roadways.  Her gait was labored, her calf still sore and tender from the zeppelin master’s bite.

As she neared Booty Bay, she decided not to cut through the port town.  Instead, she followed the coastline.  Aly was careful to stay within the shadows, having to pick her way around gorillas, raptors, panthers, tigers, and pirate camps.  By the time she reached the coastal camps, her leg had limbered up so that she was light on her feet.

Quick, agile, and silent. (continue reading…)

Hopin’ for a Non-Murloc Monday

by on Jul.27, 2009, under General, World of Warcraft

jumpin murloc suit

Hopefully today will not be a Murloc Monday.  I’ve had more than my fair share of ‘em, if I do say so myself.  I’ve also noticed I’ve been more irritated lately… lacking motiviation… lacking patience… too many little things building up.

I need another vacation.

Things are still nutty in my “other life.”  Today the new boss gets patched in though, so we’ll see how that goes.  Things have become a bit of a disorganized mess before her arrival due to “technical difficulties” that occurred (and took damn near 2 weeks to get fixed, thanks to psuedo-IT assistance. Blarg, but that’s a whole ‘nother rant).

I thought the few 3 day weekends I had recently would suffice, but seriously, being overworked makes those days off needed much more frequently than usual.  At least BlizzCon is coming up in less than a month.  It’ll be nice to get away.  And out of state no less! (continue reading…)

Sims Saturday: A Legacy is Born Part 3

by on Jul.25, 2009, under Gaming, The Sims 3

If you are just joining us or looking for a refresher: Part 1, Part 2.

Generation 1: Darcy and Brian (continued)

d and child aerissaBefore Darcy and Brian knew it, their little girl had blossomed into a young child.  She continued to exhibit a sharp intelligence and an eye for art.  Aerissa seemed to enjoy reading almost as much as her mother and they would often chat about books.  Aerissa started to ask her mother about writing her very own novel.  Darcy, who continued to write novels and other articles in her spare time outside of her journalism career, encouraged Aerissa with enthusiasm.

b feel tummy of d 3rd babyIt wasn’t long before Darcy had to request more time off of work again.  Her and Brian were expecting their 3rd child.  Brian, being family orientated, was very excited about the news.  He oohed and ahhed over Darcy’s tummy.  Darcy’s boss didn’t seem too pleased, but was required to allow her time off with pay.

Darcy knew the time off wouldn’t be a cakewalk though.  She still had little Xander zoomin’ around the house, getting into everything.  He was quiet but curious.  Plus, there were the backaches, exhaustion, and swollen… everything.  At least it would give her an excuse to go to the spa.  Oh, how they gave lovely massages!  Darcy also planned to use this time to finish yet another novel. Time is of the Essence (RP)

(Part 24) For the complete list of this series, please go here.

Twyla frowned as she propped her broom in the back corner of the kitchen.  She heard someone burst through the front door of the inn and now there was a lot of commotion in the common area.  She wiped her hands off on her apron and went to see what was going on.

“What be all the fuss…” Twyla stopped, her jaw dropping in surprise.

Everyone in the common area was surrounding the table.  A variety of odds and ends that were on the table had been knocked onto the floor.  Twyla pushed her way through to the table where Locke laid, bloody and battered, upon her table cloth.  Aerissa stood over him, frantically asking someone to help heal him.  Aerissa looked up and found Twyla’s familiar face amongst the crowd.

“Oh Twyla! Twyla, please help him! Somebody, anybody, please… he’s been hurt,” Aerissa’s eyes were glassy with tears as she pleaded for help. (continue reading…)

Sims Saturday: Simology – A Legacy is Born Part 2

by on Jul.18, 2009, under Gaming, The Sims 3

Last Sims Saturday introduced you to the first generation, consisting of Darcy and Brian… and their little bundle of joy, Aerissa!

Generation 1: Darcy and Brian (continued)

d dig in trash - journalism

Darcy soon found out that “feel good” interviews only go so far.  The real money is in diggin’ up dirt to write about people around town.  Late one night, after Aerissa was sound asleep, Darcy snuck out of the house and went down the block.  She’d heard a lot of gossip around town concerning Roxie and her sister.

After rummaging through their trash, Darcy found some interesting items and wrote a trashy (no pun intended!), gossipy article about them.  While Roxie and her sister didn’t appreciate the article, the townspeople loved it. (continue reading…)

Friday Funnies: A New Way to Bank?

by on Jul.17, 2009, under Entertainment, Humor

I really, really, REALLY wish I could have gotten a picture of this bank sign the other day.  It made me do a double take, say “lolwut” (no really, that’s how much it boggled my mind…  I actually SAID that), and laughed.  Unfortunately, it was changed by the time I went past it again.  But it went a little something like this:

<Insert Bank Name Here>

Free Wireless Internet in the Lobby

Come in for a Coffee Break and Bank Online!

*blinks*

*blinks again*

Ok, so, they’re telling me to come inside the bank so that I can sit down, whip out a laptop, and bank online?

TLC Thursday: Because I Care

by on Jul.16, 2009, under Music, World of Warcraft

Spooner of Spooncraft offers predictions of the next WoW expansion, Fisher Price style.  Personally, I’m hopin’ for my own mini-weeble(*sings* Weebles wobble but they don’t. fall. down.)

Klepsacovic of Troll Racials are Overpowered takes an interesting look at the competency of WoW players.  I particularly found the first part very insightful with the comparison of a pro-basketball player and how people would not find it appropriate for him to make fun of someone playing ball in their driveway.

I know I’ve given Tamarind of Standing at the Back in My Sissy Robe link love on previous TLC Thursdays, but seriously, if you are not reading his blog yet…. you have to get over there and subscribe.  I can’t just link one post today because he keeps me wildly entertained nearly every day.  From disenchanting his gear and adventuring in Sholazar Basin wearing a tux, to making me picture Arthas sounding like Keanu Reeves; from pick up line advice for Kael, to striking out with a beautiful woman while reading a Warcraft novel… and that was just this week!

Oh, and, in case you missed it, Megan of Out of Mana and Jong of Forbearance made an appearance this week! Yay!  Jong introduces us to his half-brother, Scutum while Megs gets lyrical.

(Non-WoW) Samodean of Massive Nerd continues his coverage and previews of all things Aion, this time with questing.

(Non-WoW) Cracked takes a look at the top 7 obnoxious types of people found at nearly every concert.  I think I’ll be on the look out for them while rockin’ out to Korn on Saturday night. \m/
