Sims Saturday: A Legacy is Born Part 14
by Syrana on Oct.31, 2009, under Gaming, The Sims 3
If you are just joining us or looking for a refresher the entire series can be found here.
Generation 2: Aerissa, Xander(?) and Caleb
Xander followed Dixie’s wishes and moved in with her and her father. What he didn’t realize was that her father was a little… odd. Insane, actually.

Xander suddenly realized that he had never been to Dixie’s home before. Or, at least, he hadn’t thought the bunker was her home. He remembered walking her back here once, but he thought it was just where her father worked. Doubt started to creep into his mind, but one flash of a smile from her and it was gone. by Syrana on Oct.28, 2009, under Guides, World of Warcraft
As some of you may (or may not) know, at one time I was our guild’s social event extraordinaire. Well, that’s not to say I’m completely out of that job… just… I’m not as active in WoW as I once was now that Aion has caught my eye. But! I still know how to throw a par-tay.
So if you are looking for some guild event ideas in order to kick back and relax, socialize, or otherwise take a break from whatever your current grind may be, take a gander at the list below. I’m purposely leaving them vague in order to let your imaginations and creativity expand upon them. Sometimes all we need is a little idea nudge. Without further adieu: (continue reading…)
Blame Syrana For Charity
by Syrana on Oct.27, 2009, under Gaming, General, World of Warcraft
That’s right, there is a new incarnation of #iblamesyrana on Twitter. A few folks have already started to warm up their blaming skills in anticipation. You may have heard a little about it on a couple of podcasts or even seen the post over at Azeroth United.
So, here I am, going to lay it all out for you and get you pumped for charity!
Of course, I want to encourage you to give to the Hearts, Hands, and Voices charity drive over at Azeroth United (AU) which is aiming to raise $5,000 for Child’s Play Charity between November 1st and December 13th. There are even some nifty incentives you could win!
Whether you are able to help give to the cause or not, you can help us give to the cause.
How This Works:
- Starting as of November 1st, we’ll be keeping track of tweets containing #iblamesyrana.
- For each blameworthy tweet (no empty tweets please) Sideshow and I will donate 10 cents to Child’s Play. (up to a maxium of $50)
- At the end of the drive, we will match the amount raised via tweets (up to the maximum).
Examples:
- There are 500 blameworthy tweets containing #iblamesyrana. At 10 cents a tweet, the tweets raise $50, so we’ll donate a total of $100
- There are 100 blameworthy tweets worth $10, so we’ll donate $20.
- So, you got ganked ingame? Computer crashed with the BSOD? Your tire is flat? Tweet about it and add #iblamesyrana
I urge you all to help us reach the 500 tweet mark!
Don’t have a Twitter account? Well now is the time to get one! It’s free and you can abandon it after you blame me if you really want.
Why is there a cap in place?
Well, I’d feel bad if there ends up being thousands of tweets bringing us to a total we can’t afford. And we don’t want to disappoint the children, am I right?
However, if you guys want to continue blaming if/when the maximum number is reached, feel free! It may still help put the word out there and get folks to donate.
Now get out there and spread the word (and blame)!
————–
*Sidenote: If the maximum tweets are not reached during the drive, we’ll consider counting the ones that went out this week in all the excitement.
The Locket (RP)

(Part 35) The rest of this series, please go here.
At sunrise, Aerissa hurried to get ready. She had to stop and vomit a few times as she pulled on her leather armor pieces and located her dagger, bow, and quiver. She assumed it was nerves, she was going to be venturing out on orders without her faithful companion after all. She glanced around the room one last time before rushing down the stairs two at a time.
“Rissy, don’t ye be thinkin’ that ye can skip breakfast now,” Twyla called as Aerissa reached the front door of the inn.
Aerissa looked over her shoulder at Twyla. “I don’t have time, I need to be going right away lest High Executor Mavren changes his mind.”
Twyla shook her head. “Tsk, tsk. ‘though I suspected ye might need some supplies.” She gently lobbed a knapsack at Aerissa.
Upon catching it, Aerissa peeked inside and saw there was water and snacks packed to keep her sustained throughout the day. She smiled warmly at Twyla. “Thank you, I appreciate this very much. I will see you later!”
Aerissa jogged across Tranquillien to meet with High Executor Mavren. She couldn’t be sure, but thought she saw him give her a rueful smile.
“Better late than never,” he grumbled as he shuffled through a stack of parchment. Frowning, Aerissa started to apologize, but he waved her off. “I’m assigning you to Windrunner Spire today. Scout it out and report back to me, ya hear? We’re working to retake the Ghostlands and don’t know where all those filthy Alliance bastards are hiding out. Or Scourge for that matter.” He spat out the word scourge, making his disdain for them and his current state clear. (continue reading…)
State of the Blog Mini-Project Complete: Blogroll!
by Syrana on Oct.25, 2009, under General, World of Warcraft
As many a blogger can tell you, keeping an up-to-date blogroll is a daunting task. It can be difficult enough to keep one’s feed reader tidy.
Why might this be difficult, you ask? Well, some people stop writing or updating without warning, others announce they are leaving, and still others move to new locations.
I read a lot of blogs and wish I could read more (there are SO many fantastic blogs out there!), but I have to set some realistic limits. Unfortunately, that required me to unsubscribe from several blogs I loved because there hasn’t been any activity in months.
But, while I may have removed some feeds from my Google Reader, I also added new ones. Before long, it was plainly obvious to me that the site’s blogroll and my reader did not accurately reflect each other.
So, I went through and tidied up my links. I considered redoing the categories, but realized it was very difficult for me to categorize people’s blogs (especially since I don’t read very many that are a strict niche). There will be some restructuring done in the future yet, I’m sure, because that list is long…
But they have descriptions now! That’s right, I went through and added descriptions of each link on the blogroll that you can see when you hover over them. (My personal favorite? The description for Massive Nerd. )
For the most part, I’d have to say if you enjoy reading my style, you’ll enjoy those listed on the sidebar. Also, please keep in mind that our ‘roll is not all inclusive. Like I said, I tried to get it to match my reader better…
I also want to draw your attention to 3 fantastic places to help fill up an empty reader that hungers for all things Warcraft (or find something more specific that you want to read, but I don’t have listed): TNB Big List of Blogs, Blog Azeroth, and Azeroth United.
Now go forth! Read the descriptions, giggle, and visit those sites! Feed your reader!

Hallow’s End: Trick or Treating in Northrend
by Syrana on Oct.24, 2009, under Guides, World of Warcraft
I like money.
Especially easy money.
As I discussed last week, there’s gold to be found in those candy buckets!
And we’re talking more than a simple penny pouch. Sheesh, can you believe some of these innkeepers? The gall to hand out penny pouches. I think that’s worse than the old lady nickels some kids acquire during IRL trick or treating.
Now, I realize there is only about a week left to the Hallow’s End event and several people have found their way here in search of a list of the Northrend candy buckets. Hopefully this will still help some of you out.
Last week, Shadowspawnd was kind enough to post the Alliance listing in the comments, so I will repost that here for all of you. I went flying around scouring Northrend in search of the Horde buckets. I hope this list is complete. If by chance either of us missed any, please feel free to say so in the comments! (And no, I didn’t separate out the neutral locations – just left them in the running lists.)

Generation 2: Aerissa, Xander, and Caleb
(Warning, here comes another stretch of sporadic screenshots as I mentioned in a previous post)
After Aerissa and Brenden’s wedding, the house was feeling a bit cramped with four adults and one teenager. Caleb was nearly done with high school and everyone else had at least a part-time job. One evening, after Xander complained about being able to hear too much through the wall that separated his room from Aerissa’s, the family agreed to find a larger house.
Unfortunately, all the large houses were a bit too pricey. Then, they found an interesting lot for sale. It had three trailer style homes arranged a community yard. It was decided that Darcy would have one trailer to herself, Aerissa and Brenden would have another, and Caleb and Xander could share the third. Aerissa was excited because it even came with a playground. (continue reading…)
