Screenshot Sunday: We’re Number One!
by Syrana on Nov.08, 2009, under Gaming, General, Screenshots, Xbox 360
On Friday, October 30th, after work, Sideshow and I decided to get some Rock Band time in. First we checked to see what battles were available and saw there was a Halloween Battle!
The songs We Have Heads performed:
Dragula by Rob Zombie
Date with the Night by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold
Sideshow was on drums while I was on vocals. Both of us were on the hard difficulty. Now, to hit the top on the battle leaderboards, you pretty much need a full 4 piece band on expert. So you can imagine our surprise when we saw:
And no, I’m not going to mention that we were the only ones to complete the battle within the first hour it went live. >.>

Generation 2: Aerissa and Caleb
With Xander out of the house and living in a high security compound set up by his crazy father-in-law, no one in the Zalewski family really knew what he was up to anymore. Darcy tried not to worry about him too much and figured he’d come back if he couldn’t handle things. Meanwhile, (during a period of no screenshots, apparently) after graduating high school Caleb started his climb up the athletic path. He started out as a team mascot and soon earned himself a spot on the team.
Brenden continued to perform live several nights a week, sometimes in town, but he was on the road a lot. His autograph sessions started to get out of control – fans trying to come away with handfuls of his hair and clothing. He did get the opportunity to meet with the president of his fan club. She was closer to his age than he had imagined… since he figured she’d be some little teenybopper. She was still a young, fresh face compared to him and Aerissa, but most certainly an adult. A Change of Seasons
by Sideshow on Nov.06, 2009, under Gaming, World of Warcraft, Xbox 360
I thought I’d give an update on my gaming and an overview of my play-style.
Sideshow is currently at 80 and has been there for many months now. In all honesty, he’s probably as far as he needs to be. He has a few Naxx pieces, some PvP pieces, etc. I have no interest in getting him fully top-tier geared. That’s not how I play. I drop in to enjoy my free time with whatever I feel like doing at the time. I usually do a few dailies, hit up a few battlegrounds, and maybe run some stuff with guildies. I may start PuGing more when the dungeon changes come out in 3.3. It’s not the act of raiding that I don’t enjoy. (continue reading…)
Friday Funnies: Know Your Audience

by Syrana on Nov.05, 2009, under Entertainment, General, Humor, World of Warcraft
Today’s TLC Thursday is brought to you by some random starred items in my Google Reader… again.
This first link is a non-WoW blog, but I found this post amusing about the overkill of trendy idioms over at DelSquacho. Scratch that, this isn’t a blog link, it’s a blonk.
In this day and age, often do you actually talk on the phone anymore. Have you ever thought of what a phone conversation might be like if you had to call a guildmate only armed with their game name? Fulguralis shares a humorous tale of having to do such a thing.
I’d like to welcome Mortigan the Lock to Syrana’s Warlockery Cohort. If you haven’t checked his blog out yet, I’d suggest starting with 3 of my favorite posts thus far: How to Raid Anything, A Letter of Resignation to the Sons of Hodir (which reminded me of Syrana’s break up letter to Archavon), and How to Negotiate With the Other Faction.
The lovely Tami (some may remember her as the Egotistical Priest) has a couple good posts regarding how comments are like a handshake and how to encourage comments on your blog.
Also, this week I received an email from a reader letting me know they started their own blog. This was very cool. I love hearing from readers! (Don’t be shy!) So I want to give a warm welcome to Nanuki to the blogosphere. And be sure to check out these adorable drawings!
Veteran Rewards? Yes Please!
by Syrana on Nov.04, 2009, under Gaming, World of Warcraft
Today is the first day that Aion players can redeem veteran rewards. Last week NCsoft revealed their plans for veteran rewards. Starting today, accounts that have been active for at least a month will be able to redeem them. Although things could still change, at this time, they are planning to have rewards for each active month – up to 6 months.
What kinds of goodies shall we see? Titles, cube expansion, exclusive emotes, rez stones, experience amulets, and better wings.
Best part? You can redeem them for any/all of your characters as long as your account has been active long enough for each veteran reward package. Very cool for altoholics. (continue reading…)
November Is A Busy, Busy Month
by Syrana on Nov.03, 2009, under General
Some of you may have noticed there wasn’t an RP segment posted for today. My brain needed a rest and Monday evening was spent veggin’ out in front of the television catching up on some CSI episodes.
I don’t know about all of you, but for me, November got here too fast… and it (as well as December) are going to fly by quickly. As the holidays get closer, there is a ton of family gatherings, shopping, snow, decorating, etc. to be done. It also tends to be a very busy time for my job because this time of year is also relapse season and my clients tend to have more crisis situations arise.
For many, November is a month of productivity, especially for writing.
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)
NaBloPoMo (National Blog Post Month)
I wanted to bring your attention to these for a couple reasons. Although most participants start planning to participate prior to November, it is still early in the month and still time to join in. If you are interested in either of these, I would encourage you to participate or at least check it out (especially if you aren’t familiar with either one) and maybe make a plan for next year.
Personally, I am not participating in them this year. I’m curious why/how November got slated for these (and a variety of other daily posting activities such as videos and podcasts) as opposed to any other month. But that is neither here nor there. I’d love to participate in NaNo, but know I wouldn’t be able to fit that in this month… even if I ignored the blog for a month.
I considered participating in NaBlo, but then figured since I usually have daily posts that it’d be kinda like cheating. Anywho, no matter how you decide to go about writing – whether you participate in these or not – the important thing is to keep writing!
Day Of The (Disappointed) Dead
by Syrana on Nov.02, 2009, under World of Warcraft
Hallow’s End has come and gone, leaving me with only the helm standing between Syrana and Syrana the Hallowed. Stupid RNG eluded me again. Granted, I didn’t go after it as much as I could have…
As Hallow’s End ended, Day of the Dead began. I was looking forward to this in game event. I have fond memories of learning about it as well as celebrating it in Spanish class back in high school.
Mmm, sugar skulls.
When I heard it was being introduced into WoW, I was very curious how it would be. I heard about an awesome little pet, which certainly made me giddy with glee.
Unfortunately, the reality of this short holiday was that it did not meet the high expectations I had built up for it. Is that Blizzard’s fault? Probably not. Is that my own fault? Probably… (#iblamesyrana) Honestly, I didn’t think I had “high” expectations, but it felt like it fell short. Lackluster. Short. Disappointing. (continue reading…)
Screenshot Sunday: It’s The Little Touches
by Syrana on Nov.01, 2009, under Screenshots, The Sims 3
I love the little details that developers put into their games. You know, the things that don’t make or break a game in terms of gameplay, but enhance the visual immersion of it all.
Get Your Blame On!
by Syrana on Nov.01, 2009, under General, World of Warcraft
Remember folks, today marks the start of the official #iblamesyrana tweet count for Azeroth United’s Hearts, Hands, and Voices charity drive for Child’s Play Charity.
Not sure what this #iblamesyrana tweet thing is all about? Check out this post here.
Also, there are 2 other bloggers that are also pitching in to donate based on these blame tweets! Check out their posts about it:
The Price of Blame Has Just Gone Up by Fulguralis
Also, if you want to take a look at the #iblamesyrana tweets, you can check ‘em out right here on the site! (And hopefully it’ll make my daunting fun task of counting them easier!)
Have fun with this, spread the word, and let’s raise some money… it’s truly a time for the Alliance and the Horde to set aside their differences and together shout a new battlecry: FOR THE CHILDREN!
