Generation 2: Aerissa and Caleb
The night quickly gave way to morning before Aerissa realized it. She could hardly believe she spent the entire night talking with her father.
As she was saying good-bye, she noticed a few other ghosts were out to play during the last bit of darkness. Unfortunately, they scared an early morning mourner, who promptly fainted in the middle of the cemetery. Aerissa quietly snickered to herself, but was glad she had not met the same fate when her father snuck up on her last night. (continue reading…)

by Syrana on Jan.28, 2010, under Gaming
So there’s this game that’s coming out in the US on February 23rd (various release dates for different parts of the world all within the same week). It’s been quite anticipated and I’m psyched.
It’s called Heavy Rain.
There will be choices… and consequences. (I recommend checking this out…)
Love.
Guilt.
Redemption.
These are the words that keep teasing us in the game trailers.
It will be a psychological thriller.
A boy to be saved. A killer to be found.
Right now I’ve signed up for the “Four Day Challenge.” I thought it might involve some gameplay, but it doesn’t. But it has been fascinating.
Shamefully, I have not been able to put much time and effort into the “clues,” and have had the benefit of pondering the theories of others. (There’s some phenomenal work going on in the PS3 EU forums as well as the Facebook fan page!) I was having some issues with the website on Tuesday, when the event started, so I wasn’t able to get all the Twitter clues…. that led to what appears to be the Twitter account of the killer.
So what am I to expect? Well, the event started on Tuesday, but there will be 3 weeks of searching and watching and waiting. Each challenge lasts for 4 days (Tuesday through Friday). It’s a unique series based upon the game’s universe, but is not supposed to contain any actual game spoilers.
Here’s the information from the official email after I signed up: (continue reading…)
The Myth Of The Perfect Game
by Syrana on Jan.27, 2010, under Gaming, General
Have you been chasing the perfect game? Have you found out?
I don’t think it exists… anymore.
I once thought it did, several times over. Sure, there are lots of games I like and lots of elements of different games I like. But I have concluded that there is no such thing as the perfect game.
The games that are out there and even those currently under development are as diverse as the people that play them. Different platforms, different genres, different levels of difficulty.
As we continue to devour the content we love, we yearn for something more.
Something perfect. (continue reading…)
A New Way To Travel (RP)

(Part 43) For the complete list of this series, please go here.
Keeping her head bent low, Aerissa made her way to the Court of the Sun. She chided herself for making a fool of herself with the troll merchant. I had no trouble bartering with Tomber… She wasn’t sure if it was the intimidating look of the troll woman, her accent, or the crowd that had affected her. All of the above, I suppose.
When she reached the Court of the Sun, she stopped to politely ask one of the guards outside the palace where she could find the orb of translocation. He informed her it was just inside the palace, in the inner sanctum of Sunfury Spire. He warned her to stay away from the portal room, which was the territory of the mages, by following the ramp up and keep to the right.
When Aerissa reached the room in question, she was a bit surprised to see that the room contained nothing more than two platforms and a brightly lit orb. Cautiously, she approached the orb. Her ears detected a low humming sound. She had heard about orbs like this, but had never used one herself. Aerissa leaned back as she stretched out her arms, her fingers inches from the orb. She took a deep breath and placed her hands on the orb. (continue reading…)
Random Gaming Memories: Iggy From Animal Crossing
by Syrana on Jan.25, 2010, under Gaming
Sideshow and I used to play Animal Crossing on our GameCube… man that seems so long ago, yet… not.
The town was full of interesting animals that utilized me as a glorified errand girl. But they gave me cool stuff too.
Sometimes they’d ask me to help them come up with a new saying which was absolutely hilarious (and not always safe for work.)
But, my favorite resident in our town was Iggy. Iggy was a (blue) goat that liked to work out and tell me how buff I was looking. Well, sometimes he thought I looked buff. Other days he’d suggest working out.
Man, that little goat could really pump iron.
He was incredibly funny, even when he didn’t mean to be. His letters were some of my favorites. I was saddened whenever he’d talk about wanting to move on to a bigger and better town. Several times I talked him into staying.
Iggy also had the most adorable expressions. Sometimes I miss Iggy. I wonder what he’s bench pressing these days?

Generation 2: Aerissa and Caleb
While Aerissa was letting out her emotions at her father’s grave, someone else crept into the cemetery.
The ghost of her father, Brian, played a classic trick on Aerissa by sneaking up behind her and scaring the crap out of her. After Aerissa got over the initial shock, she was fascinated that she could see him…talk to him…and interact with him! (continue reading…)
Time Keeps On Slippin’
by Syrana on Jan.21, 2010, under Gaming, World of Warcraft, Xbox 360
You ever notice how weird time is? The amount of time in a day is the same… every day. But some days time seems to drag and other days it flies by.
I definitely find this crazy “fast flying” time to be the case when I take vacation days. Especially those vacation days where you don’t actually leave the house.
I had some time off over this last week, and I had all these plans of things to do during that time.
All these things I wanted to tackle could be boiled down to 3 main categories:
- Spend time with Sideshow
- Play games
- Write blog posts and maybe get a bit ahead of myself!
…I can tell you 2 outta 3 ain’t bad.
Of course I got to spend time with Sideshow. Besides it being our birthday, we like to … well, play games together. (continue reading…)
